"What revels are in hand?"

I am beginning this blog as a way to communicate with all our troupe members. I would like to share with you some of my ideas about costume, set, etc., and I hope you will post your ideas as well. To begin the blog I am going to post the general information for camp:

1. Shakespeare Camp will be August 1 to August 4, 8:30 to 12:30 for the morning cast and 12:30 to 4:30 for the afternoon cast each day except Friday at the Roddy Theatre on the Baylor Campus. (The afternoon cast may decide to meet Friday, but this is optional.)

2. How to prepare for Shakespeare Camp:
· Print a full script and thoroughly memorize your part. (Please have your parents check that you have half your lines memorized by May 28th and all your lines by July 16th. They should email me by each date to confirm.)
· Practice speaking your part aloud at a slow rate and with a loud voice.
· In your script make a note “get ready” in the margin one full page before you are to come on stage. This will help you know when to come backstage.
· Also note in the margin any props you will need.
· Finally, assemble your costume and props. Please contact the costume director if you need help with your costume.
  • Sixth and lastly, invite friends and family to come!
3. What to bring to camp: Each day wear your costume to camp. Bring a water bottle, lunch for the morning cast and afternoon snack for the afternoon cast, your script and a pen or pencil. If you are performing music, please bring your instrument and sheet music. Also, bring any props or changes of costume that you will need. Your parents are always welcome and anyone who would like to help document our camp with photography or filming is welcome to bring cameras.

4. Our performances will be at 7:00 pm on the evenings of August 5th (for the morning cast) and August 6th (for the afternoon cast). Please invite friends and family! We will not have tickets this year, so let everyone know that seating is on a "first come" basis. Actors should arrive with foundation makeup already applied at 5:00 pm. I’d also like to remind parents that we will have a reception after each performance, so please bring a finger food.

We are looking forward to a fun camp!
